What hockey is all about!!!

We just had our 6 & under championship and I never saw kids have so much fun.  This is my favorite thing to watch because nobody cares who wins, everyone is having fun, and no parents are screaming.  Check out the picture.  This kids had a great time.

EQ50 follow-up

So in my review about the EQ50, I discussed how great of a stick it was, but how it broke on my 3rd skate.  I just wanted to follow up that Easton was great in their response to this.  I actually called customer service and told them about the issue.  They said the feedback they had been getting was nothing but positive and that they didn't have many of them breaking real easily.  He gave me an RA# and I received a replacement within a week.

Since I received the replacement, I have used it about 10 times and there hasn't been a problem.  I was afraid that they made the hosel to thin and that was the reason it broke so easily, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  I highly recommend purchasing this stick and I think you will love using it.  Go onto our site and purchase the stick at Easton EQ50.  Use promo code WISS and get 10% off the price.  This is the best price you will find on the internet.

EQ50 is a hit!!!!!

The reviews have been coming in on the EQ50 and it has been nothing but positive.  The #1 thing I hear from players at my arena is the weight distribution of the stick and how great it feels.  When I ask players if they feel a big difference between the EQ50 and the SE16, which was last year's model, they all say the same thing.  This stick is head and shoulders above the SE16. 

I have not had such a good response from a stick since the Bauer One95 came out, but this stick has been a hit.  I asked players if any of them broke their stick as early as I did, and nobody had.  I am hoping that mine was just a freak occurence.  I will try the stick again and am just waiting for my new one to come in.  In any case, if I have as much success with the new one as I did the previous, I will be extremely happy.

Review on Easton EQ50

This stick came in the shop and I immediately cut it down to size.  Tried it in both roller and ice and I must say I was quite pleased.  Easton has been talking about the new and improved balance in the weight of the stick.  I must say that I did feel the difference in the weight and it seemed to improve my shot.  The stick didn't feel too heavy or too light, it felt just right.  I had one goal my first game and three goals my second game.  Not only was the weight right, but it seemed to have a good flex on it as i was able to snap the shot better than usual.

As I was extremely happy to find a stick I really liked, I was disappointed when it broke in my 3rd game.  I am not one to break sticks very often and have even gone over a year without breaking one, so it was strange to me that it broke this easily.  I was playing in the first period and was breaking towards the net.  My defenseman fired a pass and as I went for the one timer, the blade snapped off.  It was more of a tap in rather than a snap shot.  I am hoping it was a defective stick rather than a defect in the product.

At $199, this stick seemed to be worth every penny.  However, if it breaks that easily, it is not worth it.  I sent the stick back to Easton, and am looking forward to the replacement coming in.  Keep checking for future articles to see how the new one lasts and whether or not the original was just a fluke.

What is up with the big wheel?

When people first look at the Revision Vanquish skate, the first question 9 times out of 10 is, "What is up with the big wheel on the back?"  This is a great question as it is not something you see every day.  This 100mm wheel is designed for more speed and more grip.  When you think about it, it is a great idea.  With a bigger wheel, you will cover more surface area and as a result, more contact on the floor.  It could give you a distinct advantage in a game.

I have never had the pleasure of trying these skates during a game, but I have tried them on and took a couple of tight turns in my store.  My first reaction to the skate was comfort.  These are probably the most comfortable skate I have ever worn and I can only imagine that they would be great to own if you are reffing multiple games or playing in an all day tournament.  As for the turning and speed, I can't give a full opinion because I didn't have the chance to use them on the rink, but it seemed like there would be a small learning curve to them.  Just like when Tour came out with all 80mm wheels, it will most likely be an easy adjustment after a few skates with them.  By talking to someone who owns them, I was told that the 100mm wheel is the real deal and lives up to the hype of better turning and speed.

My final thoughts are that if you have the money and are willing to take a chance, get the revision.  If you are an experienced player and are used to either a Mission or Tour skate, you are probably better off just sticking to what you are used to.
